Recycled polyester: the benefits
- It prevents plastics from ending up in landfills and the ocean - recycled polyester gives one material a second Life.
- Recycled polyester is almost equivalent in quality to newly produced polyester, but its production requires 59 percent less energy than this, according to a 2017 study by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment. WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Program) estimates that the production of rPET can reduce CO2 emissions by 32 percent compared to conventional polyester.
- Using recycled polyester reduces our dependence on Petroleum and natural gas as a source of raw materials. It reduces waste and toxic emissions from incineration plants and thus extends the life of landfills.
